UTS endeavours to assist students in practical learning by providing a stimulating, life-like...
What did you do Before starting the course I worked as a Veterinary Nurse.
I was motivated to study the course because I enjoy caring for animals a great deal so moving on to care for people felt like a natural step. I was also motivated by the traveling opportunities a nursing career offers.
I chose UTS because it has a fantastic reputation. It is also convenient to get to by public transport. UTS offers clinical placements as close to home as possible and endeavours to assist students in practical learning by providing a stimulating, life-like environment.
Studying at UTS is interesting and interactive. The academic staff strive to push the students to achieve the best results they can. The facilities (for example the Gym) are modern, affordable and easily accessible.
I most enjoy the clinical placements throughout the degree. The best experience I had was the two week placement I had at Westmead Childrens Hospital in the Emergency Department. The feeling of helping children and their families is indescribable.
The advice I would give to prospective students is to always be honest with yourself, nursing is the type of job where you really have to have your heart in it. Keep on top of your work and don't don't be afraid to seek support if you're ever feeling pressured or down.
When I complete my degree I would like to do the graduate program at either Randwick Childrens Hopital or Westmead Childrens Hospital. Following that, I would love to see the world and start a family.
