What position do you currently hold and where? I have just been given a job at SHS Law in Pitt Street, Sydney. SHS Law is a premium player in the Australasian legal market, with a 50 plus strong legal team acknowledged throughout Australasia as leaders in many of the following five core services areas:
- Migration Law
- Family Law
- Property Law
- Commercial Law
- Civil Law
What does your job involve? I will primarily be specialising in Immigration Law. This will involve advising clients on their prospects of success for the particular visa they are applying for and taking charge of the application process from start to end.
What led you to choose UTS: Law for your studies? UTS:Law has a great reputation for studies of law. It is known for its teaching of not only the theoretical studies of law but for its great foundations of the practical aspects of law. I also choose UTS Law because of its convenient location within the CBD, close to all amenities.
What was the most rewarding aspect of your degree? Why? The most rewarding aspect of my degree was seeing myself grow from a young student to a mature lawyer, with all the skills that I need, to be able tackle to the real world and launch my legal career.
Was there anyone in particular at the University who had a significant influence on your studies? The whole teaching staff were exceptional and always willing to lend a helping hand. Dr Laurie Berg, in particular, also had a significant influence on my new founded interest in Refugee Law and Immigration and Citizenship Law.
What would your advice be for someone who is looking at studying Law at UTS? I would definitely recommended Law at UTS because of the wonderful experiences that I had during my time, whether it be the teaching environment, the great connections within the CBD, the convenient location and all the great opportunities and events that were offered to students to help prepare us for a career in law.
